This is a live recording of my father Carlos "Diamantino" Carvalho singing at a small lounge called "Cantinho" in Pawtucket, RI. My father sang traditional Cape Verdean music. His favorite style is called "Morna", which is folk tales of love, longing, and survival. This collection of songs is easily my most prized possession. I feel very fortunate that I am able to revisit these songs, listen to his voice, and feel the energy and love he shared while he was here with us in physical form. Not a day goes by that his presence is not sorely missed. Rest in eternal peace Pops. I hope your music travels far and wide and warms the hearts of those who stumble upon it. The cover is his passport photo from when he arrived in America from the Cape Verde islands back in 1972. This collection is called "Assinaturas" or Signatures. Enjoy.
